Multi-level cranes anti-collision protection

This protection system stops multi-level cranes colliding with each other. The positions of hoists, hooks, and loads are permanently monitored, and motion is halted, when a pre-defined minimum distance is reached. The system can also prevent the upper hoists from being lowered if there is a crane below.

About

This protection system stops multi-level cranes colliding with each other. The positions of hoists, hooks, and loads are permanently monitored, and motion is halted, when a pre-defined minimum distance is reached. The system can also prevent the upper hoists from being lowered if there is a crane below. You can add as many hoists as you need under this protection system, and it can also be combined with zone protections. Everything is integrated within the same

i-C4C control system.
The distance values and safety commands are transmitted through a radio frequency (RF) communication system for maximum reliability.

Technical information

To protect cranes in a multi-level set-up, every crane requires a safety set-up. This includes an i-C4C with laser position detection on each crane, plus an i-C4C on each hoist except for the lowest (because no other crane can pass under it). The hoist i-C4C measures the load, and optionally also the position of the hook. The hook position measurement can sometimes be replaced by a contact indicating when the hook is fully lifted to its parked position. The hoist i-C4C communicates with the crane i-C4C over wired CAN.
